I love this post. As a Canadian whose country has been threatened by the President of the United States, I appreciate this post. I want to support Americans who understand the danger this administration is to the world. If we don’t speak up against tyranny, we are complicit. Politics are important to everyone. Thank you for this.

It's pretty dire. Yes, we have to speak up. Even a little old knitting blog...

Thank you! I will be showing up in the protest sweater I knit for the Hands Off protest in April. Our country will become a fascist dictatorship if we do not show up.

Thank you for this. We all need to voice our opposition. I’ll Knit in Protest in Public today (and march).

Thank you for caring. Those of us who work as teachers, in food banks, for civil rights are devastated by the rampant cruelty. We are unable to feed our poor, our elder citizens, to give and get decent medical treatment... in the richest country in the world.

Decent people trying to help others and our hearts are breaking.

No politics. Don’t go the way of Ravelry. Is the next step shaming people for colonialism for visiting India to see how yarns are dyed there like Ravelry did? Hope about cultural appropriation accusations for non- Europeans knitting Scandinavian sweaters? No thanks.

Ravelry used to be so nice. We don't use these sites to think about war and politics, we fly to gentler times to escape it. Guess the stench of outrage taints everything these days.

Knitting and politics have often been intertwined. I’ll take my knitting to the rally today.

So who's getting political now? That was a much more outrageous comment that the original post or any of the comments. Again, this is her thread, she can say anything she likes. If you don't like it, just ignore it, or go away. Sheesh!

Shaming? Anyone who voted for Trump should be ashamed. Deeply ashamed.

Politics? have been politics on TECHknitting before, and sadly, I have do doubt there will need to be again.

It's no secret I'd prefer Trump supporters to go elsewhere for knitting info. If this offends you, then you, too, can (and should) go to any other knitting site you like.

I don't see any shaming in this post. Defending democracy is not politics, it is patriotism. The ravelry website didn't shame anyone. Individuals may have, but it is almost impossible to keep people from shaming others these days. I also don't believe in this cultural appropriate nonsense. However, I, too am against a dictatorship in this country, and we are rapidly leaning that way. And this is her thread, so she has a right to say whatever she pleases.
